Versace Men's Collection Fall Winter 2014/2015: Cowboy vs. Biker

The Versace Men's Collection Fall Winter 2014/2015 was held Sunday, Jan. 11, 2014. The high fashion brand's fashion show was livestreamed via its official Facebook page at exactly 8 pm.

The Italian fashion house, now led at the helm by Gianni's sister, Donatella Versace, featured two "strong" and "powerful" manly elements at the presentation of its autum/fall collection. Cowboy vs. Biker was the theme of the high fashion brand's fashion show.

The cowboy and biker theme could be felt from start to finish. The Vesrsace Men fashion show begun with the vroom vroom of a big bike's engine. Automobile grilles, trees from the plains, and an arch made of wheels, cogs and other bike parts completed the biker and cowboy feel of the venue.

"Our cowboy is macho, he's a biker ... he doesn't have a horse," Donatella Versace mentioned after the show. This statement echoes what she said at an interview 24 hours prior the high fashion brand's anticipated Men's Collection fashion show.

The Versace Men's fashion show was a contrast between western cowboy wear and rock'n'roll biker staples. Shirts and jackets with details of gold-detailed cowboy boots and diamante sheriff badge, pre-greased oil printed jeans, and leather trousers could be seen on the catwalk.

As usual, models exuded glamor, luxury and sex through luxurious fabrics like cashmere, ponyskin, and real gold thread. The Versace Men fashion show took classic men's clothing from functional outdoor wardrobe to embody the Versace men of today.

"There is a young man who is buying us. They are very interested in fashion and the Versace style. I wanted to push the collection to appeal to those customers. Young men use fashion as a weapon now," said Donatella Versace, explaining how a new generation of men are loving the classic with a Versace spin.

Donatella Loves the Gorgeous Versace Men

Donatella Versace at the 2010 Time 100. (Credit: Wikimedia Commons/David Shankbone)

"I love being surround by gorgeous guys," Donatella Versace admits to The Independent of her love of the beautiful models of the Versame Men fashion show.

Donatella was interviewed by Alexander Fury a day before the Versace autumn/winter fashion show. The article is quite a long, but good, read. For those who don't have the luxury of time to read Mr. Fury's interview with the head of this high fashion brand, here are the highlights:

Straight Men Like to be Sexy More Than Gays

"Men like to be sexy. And not only gay men. I realise that heterosexual men like to be sexy more than gay men, honestly!"

On Versace Men Fashion

Versace Men Fashion is Strong and Powerful

"The fashion of Versace men is powerful, has been powerful...."

Bikers are the New Cowboys

"I think of bikers as the new cowboys. We have no horses, so they have motorcycles. Renegades.

Both are a very strong reference in Versace fashion, so I took those elements and tried to rework and make them contemporary. Lots of leather, lots of denim in different washes. The thing I like the most is the Cuban heel – I like the Cuban heel in every shoe. I was looking at a guy in a Cuban heel walking – like a real man! Like a Marlboro man!"

In General

"Underwear is a huge part of our business...."

"I love designing for men. I love to be surrounded by men! Do I lie?"

"I love being surrounded by gorgeous guys. The thing is, they don't know, not one of them know they're gorgeous. They're so humble, so totally different from the women's world."

On What Men of Today Are or Should Be

"I was very determined that men today are liberated. With all this oppression going on in the world, through your clothes you can be who you are, or who you want to be in the moment. Well, through my clothes."

Versace's Blue Period was a Mistake

"That was a problem I had. I was confused for a while. I made a mistake. Then I rethought everything again, and now Versace men is really Versace again. I am surrounded by impossibly sexy men."

Proud of Brother Gianni Versace

"Gianni, he had a lot of courage. Gianni came out and said he was gay when it was very difficult to say that. Thirty-five years ago. Even fashion – you wouldn't say it loud. Gianni had the courage to say it loud. I'm very proud of that."

Topless Lady Gaga in Versace's Spring 2014 Campaign

A topless Lady Gaga appears in Versace's Spring 2014 campaign. The pop star herself released her images for the high fashion brand that has since been circulating online.

The Mother Monster greeted her Tweeter followers on Jan 1. The tweet was accompanied by an image showing Lady Gaga reclining on a purple sofa without any top on. What she did wear was a pair of trousers care of the high fashion brand. She accessorized the look with a belt buckle, metal medallions and rings.

The House of Versace greeted Lady Gaga a happy new year by retweeting: "A special Happy New Year to the most glamourous (sic) @ladygaga !!!!!"

Another image for the Versace Spring 2014 campaign shows Lady Gaga in the same position on the same purple sofa. But this time, she clutches a large handbag of the high fashion brand (below, left).

Versace announced Lady Gaga's involvement in the campaign last year through the release of the pop star's image where she is seen wearing a lilac wrap dress and reclining, again, on the purple sofa (above, right).

Miley Cyrus in Marc Jacobs' Spring/Summer 2014 Campaign

Miley Cyrus is the new face of Marc Jacob's Spring/Summer 2014 campaign. In a tweet (above), Marc Jacobs offered the first look of Miley in the high fashion brand's campaign.
As shown in the image above, Miley wears a navy jacket, burgundy shorts and black sneakers with floral embroidery. The backdrop of the image is a dark, sandy beach and Miley is accompanied by two models, namely Natalie Westling and Esmerelda Seay Reynolds (in the background). All three have semi-wet hair and luminous, glowing make-up.

Miley, for her part, took to Instagram to share another image (below) from Marc Jacob's Spring/Summer 2014 campaign. The image features Miley wearing a sheer black Victorian-style blouse and a pair of sunglasses, both care of the high fashion brand Marc Jacobs.
Miley joins Dakota Fanning, Victoria Beckham, Sofia Coppola, Meg White, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Helena Bonham-Carter for Marc Jacobs' campaign.

Some view Miley's inclusion in the high fashion brand's campaign as another milestone in becoming a fashion muse. She has previously "won" against Vogue, which cancelled her appearance on the high fashion magazine, by appearing on the cover of Love Magazine's February issue.

Louis Vuitton in Bejing

Louis Vuitton opened a store at Shin Kong Place in July and invited an assortment of Chineses top stars, pop stars, models and actresses. Celebrities such as Fan Bingbing, Li Zhiting, Du Juan, Liu Wen, and Carina Lau were among those who graced the luxe label's opening in the Chinese capital. And, of course, all were clad in Louis Vuitton from head to foot.

Chanel's Little Black Jacket

Top Miley Cyrus High Fashion Magazine Covers of 2013

Controversy loves Miley Cyrus. Or is it the other way around?

The year 2013 has been an unforgettable year, especially for Miley Cyrus fans and haters alike. Who could forget the twerking scandal the former Hannah Montana star was involved in at the VMAs? Or how about her signature tongue sticking out? And all those racy photos that are presumably all part of Miley's quest for recognition as an adult woman.

It is obvious that Miley loves the camera, as the "Wrecking Ball" singer has also been featured in the covers a couple of high fashion magazines last year.

Harper's Bazaar October 2013 Issue

And it seems the singer's high fashion magazine cover streak isn't over yet, as Love Magazine has shared its February issue with Miley Cyrus on the cover. Read here for more on the details.

Miley Cyrus on Love Magazine's February Cover

Miley Cyrus is on the February cover of Love Magazine! The publication shared on December 30, 2013 its February cover and (you guessed it) Miley Cyrus is on the cover. The "We Can't Stop" singer sports a Mohawk haircut with reddish-pink highlight, complete with pouting lips, minimal make-up, and tangerine shirt.

The Love Magazine cover came after issues of Miley being cut off from a possible Vogue cover. The former "Hannah Montana" star was asked by The New York Times if the issue on the high fashion magazine pulling out on a possible cover for her was true. The pull out was allegedly due to her racy performance at the VMAs - her twerking, in particular.

"I can't say too much," Miley replied. But she hinted that the Vogue cover issue was true when she said, "It was where I was kind of going to have to do this trade-off, and I wasn't willing to."

"Right now, me doing any kind of cover for anythign that's like, a Seventeen or Teen Vogue or whatever, the way that I talk isn't the way that people that are 17 really understand," Cyrus reasoned.

But Portia Baladad of AndPop seemed to think that it was Vogue's loss and landing on the cover of Love Magazine was a definite win for Miley.

Queen of Maternity Chic by Dries Van Noten
Cate Blanchett wore a blue satin dress by Dries Van Noten during the 80th Academy Awards. It seems not even pregnancy can stop her from wowing her fans, as Marie Claire dubbed her the Queen of Maternity Chic when she wore this dress at the red carpet event.

1, 2, 3, - No, 4!- Alexander McQueen Dresses
It would seem Ms. Blanchett likes Alexander McQueen a lot, as she has worn several dresses care of the British fashion designer and couturier. In the Vogue list of Cate Blanchett's red carpet looks, four Alexander McQueen dresses pop up. Check 'em out here: 1, 2, 3, 4.
